SpeedSnap opens six parallel HTTP connections to its own test server in New Jersey, United States, and measures throughput over a 15-second transfer in each direction, discarding the first 1.5 seconds of each as ramp-up. Latency is reported as a trimmed mean that drops the fastest and slowest 20% of samples. Your result reflects the real speed between your device and that one server at the moment you test, so it moves with Wi-Fi conditions, network congestion, background downloads, time of day and your distance from New Jersey. We never ask for an account, an email address or a password, and no raw IP address is kept in your results row. If you allow telemetry, a saved test holds your download, upload, ping and jitter plus your city, country, ISP name as reported by an IP lookup, device type, and a hashed device ID derived from your IP address and browser. Decline and nothing from your test is added to our database.
